Shedmate contains more than 70k different variables from client, project and shed data that can be used for multiple purposes such as:
To create advanced formulas for material, labour or fabrication quantification
To be used in document templates to fill out information automatically for reports such as quotations, contracts or engineering forms.
Send data via API to third-party integrations for custom requests.
To access our list of available variables for the costing database, follow the steps below:
Open a draft or job with the imported database.
Click on Instant Quoting.
Click on Variables.
Create a new Variable by clicking on New Variable.
Enter the fields:
Variables Name: Enter the variable name
Is Public = YES: Public Variables are displayed on the Point of Sales System (Edit Shed) as per below, and are mostly used to create Formulas that will be used by the Salesperson, such as Delivery Costs based on Distance, Discounts, etc.
Is Public = NO: Non-Public Variables are only used to assist Pricing Calculations, thus, they won't be displayed on the Point of Sales System (Edit Shed). For instance, the image below shows how a Variable was used to calculate Reinforced Mesh per m². This Value is not available to the User when editing the Shed on the Shed Editor, but it is being considered on the Pricing Calculations.
Is Formula Variable = NO: The new Variable will be a fixed number (as per the Reinforced Mesh per m² above)
Is Formula Variable = YES: The new Variable will be defined using Formulas, as per the image below (Edit Formula):
Restrict Options = YES: Allows you to create a list of pre-defined values. You can use this, for example, to estimate Delivery Costs for specific Regions based on the distance, as per below. By setting the Distance in Kilometers (km) for specific Regions, you can then multiply these Values by a Delivery Cost per km in the Pricing Calculation to estimate Delivery Costs directly from the Point of Sales System (Edit Shed):
Restrict Options = NO: By selecting this option, you'll be free to set the Value as you want since there will be no restrictions, as per the example in which we defined that the Variable Reinforced Mesh per m² was equal to 13.
Once you create your Variable, it will appear on the bottom of the list. If Is Formula Variable = YES, click on Edit Formula to set the Formula:
Search for relevant Variables and copy the exact name into the Formula input area. The value appears in the formula results.
Customize the formula: In the example below, we assumed that Screws for External Walls = Area of External Walls x 8:
Click Okay to finalize.
Now, you can use the Variable in the price calculation.
